Custom & Standard Steel Reels & Ancillary Equipment

Spools for the shipment of steel cord, hose wire, sawing wire and special wires. They are supplied in several different versions according to the specific application and with different finishing treatments. The locking part is also available with increased diameter and can be assembled by means of a double spot-welding per flange section (“S” series).

Solid flange reel for internal process, with dimensions as per DIN standards (46395/46397) or customer requirements. It is fully machined and dynamically balanced according to GS16 ISO 1940 for process speed up to 60 m/2 and it is suitable for heavy-duty applications. It is suitable for single or multi-wire drawing of copper, aluminum or ferrous wires, and can also be used in annealing, stranding, bunching and braiding processes at very high process speeds. The standard model is epoxy-painted on the external sides of the flanges, but other finishing treatments are available according to the customer specification. 

Reels characterized by the presence of pressed flanges which can be made up of single or double wall, depending on the model and the application. 

They are used for shipping (single or multiple) or for internal process and, depending on the type, for the winding of all types of material (ferrous/non-ferrous wires, pipes, ropes, or other).

There are available in very light versions for one-way shipments, or with increased sheet thickness to support high loading capacities and for repeated use. 

Structural reels with flanges obtained from corrugated sheets or with flanges made up of smooth steel sheet reinforced by radial welded profiles. They are suitable for internal process or for one-way or multiple shipping of cables, tubes and wires.

These reels are the most versatile and are customizable according to specific requirements. 

Composite spool with flanges made of virgin ABS and barrel made of steel, suitable for stranding, braiding and high-speed extrusion process of insulated light cables (especially telephone cable and fiber optic cable). The flanges in ABS guarantee a good impact resistance and elasticity despite the very light structure. Thanks for the presence of steel machined bushings and very light plastic flanges, the structure of PTY assures good geometric values with respect to its axis of rotation and, as a consquence, a natural predisposition for winding cycles at high speeds (50 m/s). The assembly of the reels is carried out by means of screwed rods and galvanized self-locking nuts.

Take-apart reels for coils with collapsible barrel or suitable for use with self-supporting cardboard. They are available with mechanical, pneumatic or hydraulic opening system and can be designed with the possibility of raising the coil after the opening of the reel.

The range of special equipment includes steel baskets of various types and systems for the handling and the storage of reels, such as lifters, tilters, and pallets.

There is also a wide range of reflanging machines for the reconditioning of damaged B-type spools through the restoration of their original size. 

In order to reduce the waste and the impact on the environment, A.Appiani Srl offers to the customer the possibilty of reconditioning the existing steel reels by repairing or replacing the damaged parts. The recondition of existing reels allows to extend the products operational life and too obtain good-performance products reducing the cost of reels replacement.
